For those of you who know me, you know that I don't really do "free time". It's extremely hard for me to sit, relax and be still; and although I have slowed down since being pregnant, I still need stimulation throughout the day to keep me going.
Here's my scenario: I work part-time; and right now, it's very part-time, like 1 or 2 days/week. So, on the days when I am not working, Andrew has the car and I'm at home. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed, I'm an early riser, so my day starts about 7 am, which makes the time tick by even more slowly. Everyday, I have a "to-do" list for myself, but I've been finding that I get my list done with-in a few hours and then it's 11 or 12 o'clock and I'm stuck with NOTHING to do!! It drives me crazy.
I do my best to keep myself busy...I clean, bake, read, watch TV, read blogs, go through e-mails, do laundry, listen to music, take walks and play games online.
I've got all of Anaiah's blankets & clothes laundered and put away. Her cradle is set-up and both our bags are packed for the hospital. We are stocked up on diapers and wipes.
So, my questions to you is this: Do you have any ideas for what I can be doing until our baby girl is born? (And yes, I know...once the baby comes, my life will change forever. I'll never lack for anything to do, blah, blah, blah.) I've heard all of that, and I know that I will be busy once she is here, but what do I do in the meantime to keep myself occupied??
**And I must give a shout-out to my dear Grandmas, from whom I inherited this lovely gene of "busyness". Thanks to both of you. :)

What about learning Swati, or Zulu? (not completly sure what language they speak in Unganda).
You could scrap book you pregnancy (journal, pictures, ect.)- or anything else for that matter.
Walks in the parks are always good - (to fill up short amounts of time).
If these are no good, I found this website that may help:
http://www.urban75.org/useless/bored.html
also, you could always have lunch with me someday! We could make plans!
Oh I am just like you. I need stimulation. I hate lets just sit around and do nothing kind of days. (These happen to be adams favorite kind)
When i was pregnant I really enjoyed reading and being a part of the pregnancy weekly birth club. Those women usually had some great ideas and it was fun to see other people around the same stage.
I would love to catch up on both reading and movies. I agree with Kristi about the scrapbooking. I started the boys baby books early because I was worried I wouldn't be able to after they were born.
the waiting at the end sucks. I'm sorry you don't have a car. I can't believe its only a month till your due. I want to see pictures of this darling baby girl when she comes.
I've never been bitten by the busyness bug. Instead I find myself avoiding things I need to do with things I like to do. :p
What about making a scrapbook of people, places, and memories from the NW? I would imagine it would be a cool coffee table book at your new house in Africa.
You could make handmade cards to send to family or friends. Why not call someone you haven't talked to in a while and say hello.
I couldn't leave without adding something Jason would want to do. Get your camera out and start taking pictures! Create a photography challenge - find items around the house (in or out) for each letter of the alphabet.
*Have you ever thought of trying crocheting or knitting?
*I like the NW scrapbook idea (go Christa!).
*Buy some Bible Story color books, color the pictures then glue them onto colored paper and laminate. These simple aids are wonderful for teaching all ages in Africa! (then you can mail them so they won't take up precious suitcase room)
*Sleep, girl. Seriously, SLEEP.
*Learn how to cut hair.
*Write some letters to Anaiah.
*Copy some of your families' best recipes---and collect recipes from your friends...make a cookbook to bring with you here.
It's apparent that these people have never seen you in a craft setting before! :-) Just joshin' - it may be time for you to find your inner crafty self.
I was thinking, like Cheryl, some sewing type thing would be good. I really have enjoyed cross-stitch over the years - it's super easy and makes nice gifts (I could show you the dozen or so unfinished projects I have!). You could make some cute things for the baby's room.
My kids and I would enjoy coming down for a day outing with you. Give us a call-
I know exactly how you feel about needing things to do. On weekends, I know that I need to relax (otherwise my body screams at me later after absorbing too much stress from work), but I am bored with not being busy.
I have found that journaling is a good way to calm my mind, and yet, I am still using my brain power. Starting a journal for Anaiah about the journey that you and Andrew have come through individually and together to get to this point might be a good project. I know that I have often thought that it would be cool to read about my parents before they were my parents.
Video games?
HAHAHAHAHA
I thought of crocheting because that's what I did.. you can make a blanket for Anaiah.
I always feel like i need a purpose in order to really do a craft. You could get your birth announcements picked out and ready with addresses and a design so all you have to do is add a picture and the stats once anaiah is born. How about making some homemade jam and then eating it. i'm not really one for crafts or excessive reading...so that waiting game is tough to play. I do hope you find something to do and feel a sense of purpose over the next few weeks. :)
I start school soon so I could e-mail you my homework.?? Just a thought.
I am sooo much like you... did you figure out what to do, because I'll need that someday. Keep me busy:) I love you, see you in a few months!
