The CNR-"Where the Cowboys are the Stars"

Ever since I can remember, my family has attended the Caldwell Night Rodeo. It is a very fond memory of mine and we were fortunate enough to be able to attend this year while Andrew and I are here visiting.
I don't know what it is about the rodeo that I love so much...but I do. The bull riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing and bronc riding get me pretty excited. I yell and holler like the rest of the "rowdies," and without chugging down a whole gallon of beer...some of those people drink like fish. It's quite amusing to hear the noise level and excitement raise throughout the night.
I enjoy the clowns and of course, the food. Dad bought us all hot dogs last night and then Hayley and I had snowcones too. YUM!
During the barrel racing last night, it reminded me of the time when Grandpa Orville set up some barrels in the corral, so that I could practice barrel racing like they do in the rodeo. I remember him taking time that night to saddle up the horse, set up the barrels and talk me through what to do. I had so much fun riding--I felt so big, just like one of the stars.
Even though last night's rodeo was not the most thrilling rodeo that I have ever attended, it was a memorable night and I am happy that I got to share it with my family once again.

Ah the rodeo...

I loved the barrel racing. But I couldn't ever get into the other stuff. I got scared for those poor brain damaged cowboys riding those bucking animals...why exactly do they do that? :-) I did enjoy the food...and loved the opportunity to wear my cute red ropers (boots). I LOOKED like a cowgirl even though I really wasn't.

Great post Aim!

Hey AJ, I enjoy rodeos myself and the last one I went to was up at the fairgrounds in Vancouver, Wa. I think Cheryl is right and cowboys are crazy to get on the back of a 2000 pound crazy cow but to each his own. Later and God bless.

I'm so glad you got to spend time with your family and experience one of those things that was such a fond memory from childhood! You really are making me want to go to a rodeo now. I have only been to a couple and now I feel like I am missing out on one of life's great experiences!
