Veteran's Day

"...And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free; and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me... 'cause there ain't no doubt I love this land; God Bless The U.S.A."
At school yesterday, we had an assembly to honor veterans. I think my favorite part of the day is when a second grade girl (who was in my kindergarten class!) read what America meant to her. You see, she has much perspective because her family just moved from Ukraine a few years ago. She is so happy to be at a school where she is valued and respected, and as she said "...[a place] where my hand does not get hit with a stick." At just 8 years of age, she was able to identify all the reasons that living in our country is so awesome...things that I often take for granted.
Thank you to all of the men & women serving our country in the military. I am grateful for your sacrifice--it's because of you that I can have the freedom to worship freely in my church, teach at a school where diversity is embraced, and speak my opinion and be heard.
To all of you who have lost loved ones that were serving our country--my heart goes out to you. I cannot imagine the pain and emptiness you feel. May your family be blessed and comforted by the Lord our God.
Thank you to Brian Fry, Ryan Peters and Charles Tarpley--my relatives that have or are currently serving in the armed forces. I love you guys!

Well done, Aimee Jo. I am so thankful to those who serve our country as well. And I am so thankful to be an American.
